RS Studio & Design lighting has been officially certified by Australian Made Campaign Limited.
This certification formalises what has always defined our practice: our lighting is designed, manufactured and assembled in Melbourne.
The substantial transformation, the majority of labour and the manufacturing value of each piece occur here in Australia.
AusMade: designed and developed in Melbourne
Every collection begins locally.
We develop our products using CAD modelling, prototyping and material testing within our Melbourne studio. Forms are refined, sustainable materials are evaluated and construction is resolved before production begins. This process allows us to maintain control over proportion, performance and durability, not only how a piece looks, but how it performs over time.
Australian timber, carefully crafted
Sustainable timber is sourced through Australian suppliers, including Tasmanian Blackwood and Australian Eucalypt plywood.
Components are precision laser-cut in Melbourne, then assembled by hand in our workshop. Each lamp is individually:
-
assembled
-
sanded
-
finished with natural, low-VOC oils
-
tested for quality and safety
Packaging is recyclable, sourced and completed locally.
The result is a considered object: quiet, durable and made with intention.
Integrating global components responsibly
Certain electronic components, including LED modules and USB-C charging parts, are imported through specialist suppliers. This reflects the realities of global supply chains in contemporary lighting.
These components are integrated into the final product in Melbourne. Fabrication, timber processing, assembly, finishing, testing and packing all occur locally. The majority of labour and value creation remains Australian, in line with Certified Australian Made requirements.

AusMade: Why Certified Australian Made matters
Consumers and businesses increasingly seek genuine Australian products, not as a trend, but as a deliberate decision to support local industry and craftsmanship.
The Australian Made logo is Australia’s most recognised country-of-origin symbol. Certification provides independent verification that products meet strict criteria for local manufacturing and substantial transformation.
For architects, designers and customers, it offers clarity and assurance. For us, it reflects continuity.
A continued commitment
Certified Australian Made does not change how we work. It acknowledges it.
